Which States have the most police officers per capita?

The top five states by employment are California, New York, Texas, Florida, and Illinois.

However, the number of officers does not always increase in proportion to the population. On a per capita basis, Washington, DC has the most police officers, followed by New York, New Jersey, Louisiana, and Wyoming.

The nation’s capital has an elevated level of security, with 6.5 officers for every 1,000 residents compared to New York, the most policed state, with 4.3 and a national average of 2.8 officers for every 1,000 residents.
